Over the past 6 decades, Cree musician, artist and activist Buffy Sainte-Marie has used her platform to campaign for Indigenous and women’s rights and inspired generations of musicians and activists.

In 1964, Buffy Sainte-Marie spoke out against the Vietnam War with her iconic anti-war song "Universal Soldier."

In 1992, her album, "Coincidence and Likely Stories," became the first record to be produced through the internet.

Her song, "Until It's Time for You to Go," has been covered over 157 times by artists like Elvis Presley and Cher.

Sainte-Marie has also been a digital artist since 1984 and has had her work featured in galleries across North America.

She was the first Indigenous person to win an Academy Award in 1983 for her song, "Up Where We Belong."
