President Donald Trump, former President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have all weighed in on the district's special election.

On Tue., voters in California's 25th District will vote for a second time to fill former Rep. Katie Hill's House seat.

Hill resigned from her seat in Nov. after the House opened an ethics probe into an alleged affair with a staffer.

In 2018, Hill defeated two-term incumbent frmr. Rep. Steve Knight, and flipped the district from 25 years of GOP control.

Now, Republicans are looking to regain the seat with Raytheon executive and Trump ally Mike Garcia.

Running against Garcia is freshman California Assemblywoman Christy Smith, who won 36.2% of the vote in March's election.

Tue,'s special election will likely be a close one. FiveThirtyEight rated the district's seat a "toss-up."

And, the stakes are high for both parties: Both the DCCC and RNCC have collectively spent $3M on the race so far. (OS)

Smith has so far won the endorsements of former President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

President Trump endorsed Garcia on Twitter in April: "Mike has my Complete and Total Endorsement!"

The coronavirus has loomed large over the special election, forcing the candidates to campaign while social distancing.

In March, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed an executive order requiring the election "to be held as an all-mail ballot election."

Trump attacked the move to an all-mail election on Twitter: "...watching for dishonesty. Report to Law Enforcement."

As of Mon., 29% of ballots have been turned in. Smith and Garcia will face off again in Nov. for a full two-year term.(PDI)
