FL Gov. Ron DeSantis's glitchy 2024 presidential campaign launch is confounding many, including some conservatives.

What happened? DeSantis on Wed. announced his presidential campaign on Twitter Spaces with CEO Elon Musk.

The debacle sparked a flurry of reactions Wed. night: Fox News's Raymond Arroyo questioned the use of Twitter Spaces.

Arroyo: "He should have had a big rally. I don't know why there was no visual image. This is not 1934."

Former Biden campaign senior staffer Ashley Allison told CNN Wed. the launch sounded like a "commercial for Twitter."

Allison: "He surely did promote Twitter."

Bulwark EAL Bill Kristol told MSNBC Wed. that the event was indicative of DeSantis's need for approval from power players:

Some conservatives, such as Rep. Chip Roy, viewed the event as a net positive: "He understands the culture war is the key."

Former Virginia AG Ken Cuccinelli told CNBC that the technical difficulties were a sign of voter "excitement."

2024 Republican primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy welcomed DeSantis's entry into the race Wed.:

And Trump? Trump took to TruthSocial Wed. and wrote: "'Rob,’ My Red Button is bigger, better, stronger, and is working."

Trump on TruthSocial: "Wow! The DeSanctus TWITTER launch is a DISASTER! His whole campaign will be a disaster. WATCH!"

Does he have a chance? According to FiveThirtyEight's poll average, Trump is leading DeSantis by 33.7 points in the polls.
