Public health officials are sounding the alarm on rising COVID-19 cases in unvaccinated parts of the country.

CDC Dir. Rochelle Walensky revealed Fri. that the US recorded a 70% increase in new COVID-19 cases this week. (CNBC)

The CDC this week also recorded a 36% increase in hospitalizations and a 26% increase in deaths after weeks of decline.

Walensky: "We are seeing outbreaks of cases in parts of the country that have low vaccination coverage..."

US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy Thu. released an advisory on misinformation related to COVID-19 and vaccines.

Murthy: "Misinformation poses an imminent and insidious threat to our nation’s health."
