"Anyone in my position not taking the Fifth Amendment would be a fool."

Former Pres. Trump is making headlines after he repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment in a new video released Tue..

What's happening? The New York Attorney General's office on Tue. released video footage of Trump's Aug. 10 deposition.

Trump was deposed last Aug. as a part of New York AG Letitia James's investigation into the Trump Organization. (CNN)

James in Sept. filed a $250M+ lawsuit against Trump for allegedly falsely inflating his worth to obtain loans. (CNN)

During his deposition before James, Trump repeatedly pled the Fifth, refusing to answer questions about his business.

According to CNN, Trump invoked the Fifth Amendment 400+ times during his deposition.

Why is this notable? Trump previously asserted as a presidential candidate that only "the mob takes the Fifth."

Trump defended his use of the Fifth Amendment during his deposition, stating that he would be an "absolute fool" not to.

Trump: "There has never been another president...who has been...unfairly treated like President Donald J. Trump."

James's lawsuit is the result of a two-year investigation that started in wake of Michael Cohen's testimony to Congress.

In 2019, Cohen testified to Congress that "[Trump] inflated his total assets when it served his purposes."

Trump referenced Cohen during his Aug. 10 deposition, calling him a "stone cold loser."

What's next? Well, according to CBS News, James's lawsuit against Trump is scheduled to go to trial on Oct. 2.
