Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born on March 22, 1976 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Reese spent the first four years of her life in Wiesbaden, Germany, where her father served in the US Army reserves.

Then the family moved back to the America, settling in Nashville, Tennessee.

Reese started acting at age 7, and worked sporadically until her later teen years.

In 2006, she won an Oscar for her performance in "Walk the Line."

She's known for her roles in "Cruel Intentions,"
