1. Pres. Joe Biden kicked off his five-day trip to Europe Mon. with visits to Windsor Castle and 10 Downing Street.

2. Texas state Sen. Roland Gutierrez announced his U.S. Senate run Mon., becoming the second Democrat to join the race.
Gutierrez announced his run on Twitter Mon. morning: "I’m running for the U.S. Senate to fight back..."
Who is Gutierrez? Gutierrez was first elected to the Texas House in 2008; in 2020, he was elected to the state Senate. (AP)
3. Two Georgia grand jury panels were sworn in Tue. to consider Fulton County DA Fani Willis's case against Trump.
Willis has been investigating Trump for two years over his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.
Willis launched her probe into Trump in Feb. 2021, shortly after he attempted to pressure Georgia's elections officials.
According to CNN, an indictment in the case could come in Aug., marking Trump's third indictment this year.
4. World leaders from 31 NATO member states convened in Lithuania Tue. and Wed. for the 33rd NATO summit.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg opened this year's summit with news of a breakthrough on Sweden's NATO accession.
Stoltenberg announced Mon. that Turkey agreed to give the green light to Sweden's accession to the military alliance. (NYT)
Ukrainian Pres. Volodymyr Zelensky also attended this year's summit to lobby leaders to invite Ukraine into NATO.
Stoltenberg told reporters Tue. that NATO would invite Ukraine "when allies agree that conditions are met."
Pres. Joe Biden closed out the summit Wed. delivering a rousing speech at Lithuania’s Vilnius University.
In his speech Wed., Biden affirmed NATO's unified support for Ukraine: "We will stand for liberty and freedom today."
5. Iowa's state legislature voted Tue. to pass a six-week abortion ban, sending the bill to be signed into law. (CNN)
The state Senate voted 32–17 to pass the bill Tue.. Iowa is now the 13th state to ban abortion after six weeks. (CNN)
6. FBI Dir. Christopher Wray appeared before the House Judiciary Committee Wed. to testify on his handling of the agency.
Wed.'s Judiciary hearing was Wray's first testimony since former Pres. Trump's 37-count indictment in June. (WaPo)
Wray defended the FBI against several allegations, including claims that he "weaponized" the agency against conservatives.
