This September, climate leaders from around the world met in New York City to share ideas and double-down on their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Here were the highlights.

This year's Climate Week was a whirlwind of action.

While it’s clear far more needs to be done to keep warming under 1.5 degrees Celsius, there were encouraging moments.

Hundreds of panels and presentations facilitated idea-sharing between governments, businesses, communities, and NGOs.

They talked everything from clean energy storage and electric cars to environmental justice.

Leaders in the entertainment industry made their voices heard, too.

More than 60 celebs–from musicians and actors to artists–signed an NRDC Action Fund letter urging swift climate action.

The star-studded list included Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Seven late-night hosts–including Jimmy Kimmel, Trevor Noah, and Samantha Bee–also dedicated their shows to climate change.

Governments upped the ante with additional climate pledges ahead of this fall’s COP26 summit in Glasgow.

China, the largest funder of coal projects in the world, announced it would stop building coal-fired power plants abroad.

And President Biden pledged to double U.S. climate change aid.

Biden’s decision marks an encouraging step toward the United States taking more accountability for its share of emissions.

But Climate Week is just the start. Decision-makers need to ramp up efforts to slash emissions–before it's too late.
