Family, friends and religious leaders gathered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Tue. to celebrate the life of O'Shae Sibley.

Tue.'s memorial was held at the Met Philadelphia, where Sibley performed as a dancer; 200+ attended the service. (WP)

Otis Pena, who was dancing with Sibley on the night of his death, remembered his friend as a "beacon of light."

Pena: "He danced with us. He made us sing, even though we sounded like cats. But there was a beauty within it all."

Sibley: "We celebrate, we honor, we pay tribute. And O'Shae is here with all of us during these times."

Bishop Bernard Brown condemned Sibley's killer, who was arrested Fri. on hate-related murder charges. (AP)

According to the NYT, Sibley was stabbed while defending his friends from homophobic and racist slurs hurled by his killer.

Sibley's father Jake Kelly also spoke to reporters after the service Tue.: "Everybody loved him."

Kelly: "He was really loved. He was a loving child. [...] He said he wanted to reach the stars, he did that."
