1. South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott launched his presidential campaign Mon., making him the sixth Republican to join the race.

Scott's announcement Mon. was a long time coming: he started visiting pivotal primary states in Feb.. (CNN)

According to a FiveThirtyEight poll average compiled Mon., Scott is polling last in the field with an average 1% support.

2. Legendary singer Tina Turner passed away Wed. at her home in Zurich, Switzerland. She was 83 years old. (CNN)

Turner's official Facebook page announced her passing Wed.: "Tina, we will miss you dearly."

"Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music."

3. Pres. Biden on Wed. marked the first anniversary of the Uvalde school shooting with a somber speech at the White House.

The Uvalde shooting was the nation's deadliest in nearly a decade: 19 children and two adults were killed in the shooting.

In his remarks, Biden called on Congress to renew the federal assault weapons ban, which lapsed in 2004.

4. FL Gov. Ron DeSantis announced his 2024 presidential campaign Wed. on Twitter Spaces with CEO Elon Musk.

DeSantis's audio stream was beset with glitches, ultimately crashing after 500K+ listeners tuned in. (CNN)

Does he have a chance? According to FiveThirtyEight's poll average, Trump is leading DeSantis by 33.7 points in the polls.

5. The Supreme Court on Thu. ruled to limit the EPA's ability to enforce the Clean Water Act, gutting the 51-year-old law.

The Court ruled in a 5–4 decision to strip the EPA of its power under the Clean Water Act to protect isolated wetlands.

Justice Alito: "...the CWA extends to only those wetlands with a...surface connection to [protected bodies of water]."
