Shoppers reported bare shelves and long lines at supermarkets as Philadelphia Mayor James Kenney announced a “Safer-at-Home” order in an effort to fight an increase in coronavirus cases. The City and Department of Public Health announced new restrictions from November 20, shutting down gyms, rolling back indoor dining, and moving classroom instruction online through the end of January. Coronavirus Lockdown Continues at Tenerife Hotel

The number of coronavirus cases reported in Spain has climbed to seven as hundreds of guests at a hotel in Tenerife continued to be held under lockdown on Wednesday, February 26. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said on Wednesday that there were seven reported cases in Spain, up from three cases on Tuesday. Cases in Italy have also risen overnight, with 229 reported on Tuesday and 322 reported on Wednesday. Guests at the H10 Costa Adeje Palace hotel in Adeje, a town in Tenerife, were placed under lockdown after  an Italian doctor who stayed at the hotel tested positive for the new coronavirus strain, COVID-19, on Monday, according El Pais. About 200 hotel workers and 800 guests from dozens of countries were ordered to stay at the hotel. Since December 31, there have been 81,027 reported cases of coronavirus, according to the ECDC. Italian Man Wears Wide-Rimmed Disc to Keep Coronavirus at Safe Distance

A man at the Testaccio Market in Rome, Italy, wore a wide-rimmed disc that hung around his waist, ensuring that other people would stay one meter away from him per Italy’s new coronavirus guidelines, as the country remained on lockdown on March 6. Daniel Bondi was walking through the market with a friend when he heard a commotion nearby and went to see what was going on. Bondi encountered a man, wearing a disc around his waist made of made of unknown material, attempting to fit between two counters that were apparently too close together for him to pass through them. The man told Bondi that he created the contraption to keep a safe distance from others and avoid contracting coronavirus.
