Vincent Barletta is a renaissance man. A tenured associate professor of Comparative Literature and Iberian and Latin American Cultures at Stanford University, he is also a research associate at the university's Europe Center and an associate faculty in the Center for African Studies, the Center for Latin American studies, and the Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies.
Prof. Barletta has written extensively on Spanish and Portuguese literature and culture from the medieval to contemporary periods. He has also published translations of poetry, fiction, and drama from Spanish and Portuguese into English.
In his spare time, Prof. Barletta enjoys playing tennis, hiking in the California hills, reading (of course), traveling with his wife Marta, listening to music (especially opera), and spending time with his two children Matteo and Elena.
