Founded in 1957, the Duna Art Ensemble consists of 24 professional folk dancers and a folk orchestra with six instrumentalists. The Duna Art Ensemble's main goal is to arouse interest in folk dance among a wide range of audiences, to break down stereotypes about the genre and to make them aware of its diversity and artistic expressiveness. Its creator artists believe that folk dance is an extraordinary medium for expressing emotions and values, and even complex stories. Accordingly, the company strives for an authentic, yet open and attention-grabbing interpretation of Hungarian folk dance tradition, and its productions are characterised by both the safeguarding our tradition and artistic experimentation.
