The Spetses mini Marathon (SMM) event started in 2011 and this year, 2020, is celebrating its’ 10th anniversary. It was that year that the founder and organizer, Marina Koutarelli, put her idea for a sporting event in the province. In these ten years of continuous effort and improvement of the event by Marina Koutarelli and her team, the race has taken on a global dimension as it hosts athletes from 42 different countries and has rightly been designated a “station” in Sports Tourism. Now, the Spetses mini Marathon attracts more and more participants and visitors every year, with the latest number reaching 18,000 on the island of Spetses and even in the off-season.
