With 7.8 million people over an area of more than 7,300 km², approximately 15,300 km of route network and 1.2 billion passengers a year – the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) stretches from the Lower Rhine to the eastern Ruhr Area. The VRR is not only the transport association with the highest number of residents in Europe, but may rightly call itself the largest local transport conurbation.
