The Swan Princess® is based upon a folk tale that Russian composer, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, used to create the ballet, Swan Lake. In the 1870s. In the late 1980s Producers, Seldon O Young and Jared F Brown, paired with Director Richard Rich and Composer Lex de Azevedo, produced seventy animated short films. Their success inspired Sony Pictures to join them in producing a fully animated feature film, The Swan Princess®. The theatrical release of this classic tale was on November 18, 1994. This film was the last feature-length film to be released in theaters that were created entirely of traditional hand-drawn animation. This team of talent has continued to create fifteen more animated feature films, ten of them sequels to the original Swan Princess story.
