A brief overview of Atromitos FC Atromitos FC was founded in May 1923 and its first president was Mr. Iosif Tsourouktsoglou, a well-known doctor who originated from Asia Minor. Atromitos FC became a professional football team in 1992-1993, under Andreas Koulopoulos’ presidency. At that time, Atromitos was participating at the Second Division league, until the historic occurrence of June 2005, when George Spanos took charge of the team. Since then, Atromitos FC operates under the strongest and most robust management in its history, becoming an exemplary model of organization and proper management for many professional football teams in Greece ranking in the 14th place of the Hellenic Football Federation historic records. A brief overview of ATROMITOS FC In 1932-1933, Atromitos FC of Athens was created – after the merge with the football team of Chalkidona, featuring the star as its symbol, blue and white as it’s colors and Peristeri as it’s home stadium. Seventy – three years later, a second merge took place and marked the history of Atromitos; a merge that offered new perspectives and visions to the team. In May 2005, Atromitos was participating in the Third Division league, with lots of financial problems that jeopardized the future of the team and threatened it’s survival. It was then, when one of the most trustworthy managers of the Hellenic Football, the entrepreneur Mr. George Spanos, undertook the most serious and important investment that was ever carried out in the sport’s history of Peristeri. He dissolved Chalkidona, which was one of the model-teams of the Greek Super league and merged it with Atromitos. From that moment and on, Atromitos, who kept it’s symbols, colors and home stadium, sailed for big success. The main shareholder of Atromitos FC is the President Mr. George Spanos. Our team has gained a respectable brand name in the football market through the years and as a result, many well-known coaches and high-value football players, from both Greek and foreign football market, have endorsed the Atromitos FC shirt.
