Mr. Cagle founded Heartland Energy, Inc. in 1997, which became HEI. Taking direction from joint venture partners, he hired operators, drilling contractors, geophysicists, engineers, and service businesses. In 2006, Charles Reed Cagle financed and built a 2000 horsepower drilling equipment capable of drilling to 20,000 feet.
