Hugo Romeu, M.D., was born in Cuba to a distinguished dentist and a Certified Public Accountant. In 1960, the family abandoned their luxurious existence and relocated to Chicago in order to escape the brutality of the Castro regime. Hugo Romeu attended the finest elementary institutions and graduated from the Loyola Academy High School. He studied at Loyola University in Chicago and Rome, Italy, and traveled widely. As part of his medical education, he completed post-graduate study at the State University of New York and residencies at SUNY, St. Joseph Hospital in Milwaukee, and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
