Matthew Carluccio, an award-winning Executive Producer for NBC, has spent nearly three decades shaping the field of broadcast journalism. His work has been central to major network programs, including Dateline NBC, TODAY, Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist, and NBC News Specials. With a focus on accuracy and a straightforward approach to editorial management, he has earned respect for guiding teams through demanding coverage while maintaining a high standard of storytelling that reaches a broad audience. Matthew is respected for his ability to make critical decisions in fast-moving situations and for leading production teams through some of the most challenging assignments. Over the years, his work has been honored with multiple Emmy Awards and Edward R. Murrow Awards. These achievements recognize his role in breaking news coverage, writing, and the overall excellence of the broadcasts he has produced. Raised in Toms River, NJ, his curiosity about the world and the influence of his parents’ careers in law and psychology helped shape his interest in journalism. He attended boarding school in Pennsylvania before pursuing Political Science and Psychology at Clark University in Massachusetts. His studies provided a strong foundation in understanding both people and institutions, which later enabled him to frame stories in meaningful ways for his audiences. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1993, Carluccio moved to New York City to begin his professional path. His first position was with King World TV as an Assistant to the Executive Producer, where he observed the demands of daily television production. Soon after, he joined NBC as an Associate Producer for Dateline NBC, where he worked on investigative stories, general assignments, and long-format pieces. During this time, he developed his reporting, writing, and editing skills, while also gaining extensive field experience covering international events in the Middle East and high-profile domestic stories. In 2005, he joined the TODAY team, producing broadcasts around the world, including special assignments from Cuba, Belize, the Vatican, and Antarctica, where he made the first live network news report from the South Pole. Matthew also produced Olympic coverage beginning in 2006 in Torino and continuing through Beijing in 2022. His leadership roles expanded when he became Supervising Producer in 2008, Senior Producer in 2011, and Executive Producer of the weekend editions of TODAY in 2014. Two years later, he helped launch Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist, which went on to become a lasting success. Since 2020, he has overseen NBC News Specials, producing coverage of elections, inaugurations, state ceremonies, and international events. Away from his professional work, he has been married for 18 years and is the father of three boys. He lives with his family and two dogs in Philadelphia, balancing his career with interests such as reading, listening to podcasts, coaching youth sports, engaging in outdoor activities, and cooking Italian meals, while also supporting the NY Yankees. Matthew Carluccio continues to guide impactful journalism with dedication, experience, and a strong commitment to his craft.
