Since early 2020, George Drazenovic has been a faculty member at University Canada West (UCW) in Vancouver, BC, where he has taught courses in accounting, finance, entrepreneurship, and corporate strategy. He also served as Chair of Undergraduate Programs for nearly four years. Before joining UCW, he worked in the private sector, where he led several ventures within the junior public markets. His professional expertise includes HR management, recruiting, industry engagement, business development, financial reporting, capital budgeting, strategic planning, capital markets, regulatory compliance, and investment valuation. He began teaching in the MBA program and was later promoted to Associate Professor. In 2021, he took on the role of Chair, reporting directly to the VP of Academics. By the end of 2024, both student enrollment and faculty size had grown by more than ten times. He was responsible for strategic planning, curriculum development, academic governance, industry partnerships, budgeting, and regulatory oversight. He led three major undergraduate programs: the Associate of Arts, the Bachelor of Commerce (ACBSP-accredited), and the Bachelor of Arts in Business Communications, serving over 5,500 students and more than 200 faculty members. He was an active voting member on several key committees, including the University Senate, Curriculum, Governance and Standards, Quality Assurance, Admissions Appeals, and Undergraduate Program Working Committees. He completed the consent renewal process for all programs and contributed to the creation and revision of numerous courses. George implemented new leadership structures to support faculty development and improve student learning outcomes. He led the alignment of the accounting program with the CPA Western School of Business and introduced certification-aligned and technology-focused courses. His efforts led to curriculum modernization, scheduling improvements, and the successful launch of a new learning management system. He also mentored faculty, supported DEI initiatives, organized events such as Pitch Night, and strengthened employer engagement through program-related partnerships. Before entering academia, he served as CFO, CEO, and Director for several public companies. He led mining exploration efforts and secured funding to support pharmaceutical research, including early-stage clinical trials. George Drazenovic continues to apply his broad experience to education, research, and business with focus and dedication.
