Oren Forgette's academic journey began at City Honors High School in Buffalo, where he completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and received his NY Regents Diploma in June 2019. He also served as co-captain of the rowing team, demonstrating early on his leadership skills and commitment to teamwork. Currently, Oren is making strides at SUNY Geneseo, maintaining a 3.0 GPA and expecting to graduate in May 2024. His academic path is characterized by a deep engagement with complex subjects and a continuous effort to excel in a challenging environment. In the summer of 2023, Oren participated in the NASA NY Space Grant at SUNY Geneseo. Under the guidance of Dr. Pellerin, he worked on processing images from the Hubble Space Telescope to create detailed RGB images of galaxies. This research was pivotal in advancing the understanding of planetary nebulae and provided him with invaluable experience in astrophysics. Oren also distinguished himself in a challenging technical project that involved using Labview to program a system for controlling two-stepping motors. This project was designed to manage the movements of a toy car and a camera, highlighting his ability to apply theoretical knowledge to solve practical problems. Beyond the realms of academia and research, Oren has consistently demonstrated leadership. As an Eagle Scout, he led a deer enclosure project, significantly contributing to environmental conservation efforts. His leadership experience extended into his college years, where he served as the Sports Chair of the Zeta Beta Xi Fraternity, organizing events that promote physical activity and team spirit. Oren's work experience includes roles at the Cheesy Chick Cafe & Food Trucks and as a DoorDash delivery person. These positions taught him valuable lessons in customer service, time management, and adaptability. Furthermore, Oren's extracurricular activities, such as rowing and his growing interest in stand-up comedy, enrich his life, providing balance and allowing him to develop skills outside his academic pursuits. As he nears the completion of his degree, Oren Forgette continues to demonstrate a remarkable blend of academic excellence, leadership, and community involvement. His story is one of continual growth and contribution, marked by a steadfast pursuit of knowledge and a deep commitment to making a positive difference in the world.
