Chet Lowe

Chet Lowe was born in the Bahamas and raised in a home where Christian values were spoken and lived. His parents, Ira and Pam, shaped his early understanding of faith by consistently caring for others and serving with sincerity. From a young age, Chet observed how his family treated people, leaving a lasting mark. At just seven years old, he responded to God's call by organizing a Vacation Bible School in his parent’s garage. It was a simple act that began a lifelong commitment to ministry. The family continued to be an anchor for Chet throughout his life. Alongside his siblings, Susan and Matthew, he experienced the strength of family bonds and the steady presence of parents who led by example. Their influence helped form his views on service, responsibility, and what it meant to live with purpose. As a teenager, Chet began to act on his calling more intentionally. At thirteen, he joined a mission trip to South Korea to help construct a church. A year later, he traveled to Liberia to help build a school. These early trips gave him a wider view of the world and confirmed that his desire to serve was not just emotional—it was a direction he felt called to follow no matter where it led. In 1994, Chet married Andrea. A year later, they made a life-changing decision to move to Liberia amid a civil war, bringing their newborn with them. The move was not an easy one. They faced danger, uncertainty, and limited resources. Still, they were there to serve and stay committed to that mission. During their time in Liberia, Chet and Andrea helped plant 17 churches and started Joseph’s Brethren, a ministry that focused on helping children impacted by war. More than 1,500 children were rescued, including many who had been child soldiers. These children were placed in foster homes and rehabilitation centers where they could find safety and support. The work was demanding, but Chet and Andrea remained faithful to the task, believing each child deserved the chance to heal and grow. Their family also grew during this time. Chet and Andrea had five biological children—some born before, some during, and some after their years in Liberia. In addition, they welcomed four more children into their home through adoption and spiritual mentorship. Their family became an extension of their ministry, where others could find stability, acceptance, and love. After returning to the United States, Chet joined the staff at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, a church he had been connected to for many years. Over nearly three decades, he led ministries for families, couples, singles, missions, and foster care. Along the way, he earned a Master’s degree in Christian Counseling, allowing him to walk more closely with people through personal and painful seasons. His heart for ministry was always centered on presence—being there when people needed someone to talk to, listen, and help. In 2005, Chet launched Patmos: Reality Discipleship, a young adult program focused on spiritual growth and commitment. The ministry expanded into multiple countries, including Brazil, El Salvador, the Bahamas, and the United States. The relationships built through this work had a lasting effect on Chet, including one that grew into a bond similar to that of a father and son. Chet’s life also included times of personal loss. In 2011, his younger brother, who served as a Navy Lieutenant, died in a plane crash. In the years that followed, Chet also lost his father and his uncle. These experiences brought deep grief, but they did not cause him to pull back from ministry. Instead, he leaned further into it, continuing to serve and support others while managing his sorrow. 2015, sensing a new direction, Chet moved with his family to Southern California. He became lead pastor at Coast Hills Church in Aliso Viejo, guiding the church through rebuilding and growth. In 2021, he accepted an invitation to lead Calvary Chapel South Bay. Under his leadership, the church took on a new identity as Calvary LIFE, focused on four key areas: learning God’s Word, building meaningful relationships, following Jesus, and serving the world around them. Now living in San Pedro, California, Chet leads alongside Andrea. Calvary LIFE is active in outreach across Los Angeles, including efforts to serve the homeless, assist victims of human trafficking, and minister to those in prison. The church also supports over 30 global missions. Through it all, Chet remains grounded in discipleship, biblical counseling, and personal relationships. He continues to walk with people through their struggles, providing guidance and support. As 2025 marks several key milestones in his ministry, Chet is not focused on their achievements. His focus is still on the people God brings his way—and saying yes, one step at a time.
