Pilot Eric Weaver has logged extensive hours in seaplane operations, global Caravan Amphibian flights, and long-range Gulfstream missions for Fortune 100 corporate clients. His career began in rural Pennsylvania and grew into an international path that has taken him across the Americas, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Asia, and South America. Today, as a veteran business aviation pilot, his professional life blends specialized seaplane expertise with complex corporate aviation missions for global clients.
Eric’s journey shows steady advancement from early grassroots flying to corporate jet operations on an international scale. Proficient in seaplanes, Caravan Amphibians, and advanced jets, he continues to refine his skills while sharing knowledge with the next generation of aviators. His background includes instruction, demonstration flying, and high-level corporate assignments, reflecting a career shaped by persistence, versatility, and technical depth.
Eric’s earliest aviation experiences came through his family’s farm in Pennsylvania. His father and uncle kept a Cessna 170 on a closed paved road through the property, giving him access to flying from a young age. Alongside these early aviation experiences, he gained exposure to farming partnerships, retailing farm products, and direct-to-consumer food sales. After high school, he joined Youth with a Mission and spent time teaching English in Hong Kong before returning home to support his family during a difficult period. He later attended Anderson University in Indiana, where he earned a degree in Business and Management Information Systems, providing a strong base for his future career in aviation and business.
After completing college, Eric and his parents purchased a 37-room lakeside resort in Florida, which included a golf course, banquet facilities, and a restaurant. He managed weddings, events, and daily operations while continuing to run the property with his family. During this time, his interest in flying was reignited by the arrival of a seaplane. He earned a private pilot certificate and purchased a 1954 Cessna 180 on straight floats. After the resort closed following a 2004 hurricane, Eric shifted entirely to aviation, expanding his qualifications with commercial, instrument, multi-engine, instructor, and multi-engine seaplane ratings.
During the Great Recession, Eric co-founded a seaplane base in Tavares, Florida, which came to be known as America’s Seaplane City. Working with his partner Ricci Rowe, he developed a thriving operation centered on seaplane tourism and pilot training. As a high-time multi-engine seaplane pilot and instructor, Eric earned the FAA’s highest combination of category and class ratings—ASES, AMES, ASEL, and AMEL. Over time, he recommended more than 100 pilots for advanced ratings and became recognized for his expertise in Caravan Amphibious aircraft. He also worked as a demonstration pilot for Wipaire, manufacturer of Caravan Amphibious floats.
In 2012, Eric moved into corporate aviation, flying Cessna Caravans out of New York City. His assignments took him throughout South America, the Virgin Islands, the Bahamas, and nearly every island in the Caribbean. From 2019 to 2024, he flew for a VVIP client in the New York area, earning a Gulfstream 550 type rating. His career expanded further as he began operating both G550 and G600 aircraft for a Fortune 100 company, managing long-range missions across the Middle East, Asia, and South America. These roles require discipline, adaptability, and precision. Alongside his corporate responsibilities, he continues to mentor aviators and is pursuing authorization from the FAA to serve as a Designated Examiner.
Beyond active flying, Eric has contributed to the aviation industry in leadership and outreach. He has served as Director of Operations and Chief Pilot for Part 135 operators, helped establish a seaplane program at the Vermont Flight Academy, and participated in initiatives that support pilot training. He has also volunteered for the EAA Young Eagles, provided flights for Make-A-Wish and Angel Flight, and supported the Seaplane Pilots Association. His background even includes work in film, with a credited role in The Rum Diary, where he piloted a twin-engine seaplane.
From learning to fly a Cessna 170 on a family farm to piloting Gulfstream aircraft for Fortune 100 corporate clients, Eric Weaver’s career reflects dedication and steady professional growth. His path brings together seaplane expertise, international corporate aviation, teaching, and mentorship. Today, he continues to balance flying with training and outreach, contributing to both his career and the broader aviation community.
