ABOUT US JaMese – a portmanteau word that says everything about the band: Jam – freedom, creativity; mese – stories, conveying thoughts; Emese – singer Emese Molnár, who brings it all together. Elementary storytelling, sometimes with folk, sometimes with jazz musical fragments, with lyrics leaning towards poetry. The band has been an active participant in Hungarian light music for more than ten years – during this time, they have released four albums, received numerous invitations to domestic and international festivals, and performed several unique shows. In 2024, they released their fifth album, Dudorászó Szünidő, which follows in the footsteps of the highly successful Zenés Adventi Kalendárium and is the musical companion to Anna Szabó T.'s latest collection of children's poems. The album was nominated for a Fonogram Award in 2025 in the "Domestic Children's Album of the Year" category. JaMese, a band that has revitalized the genre of sung poetry, presented their new album live on stage at the Hungarian House of Music in front of a full house. Their latest animated video was made for the song Kirándulók (Excursionists), in which Emese Miklya's illustrations come to life. In their 10th year, the band released their fourth album, Odaát Idebent (Over There, Here), which tells the story of the cyclical nature of life, new beginnings, and the dynamics of up and down in 11 heartfelt songs. Also last year, they released their Petőfi Single with three songs, which were awarded among the 200 best poem-to-music adaptations in the Petőfi Cultural Agency's Felhő Projekt competition. Their special Christmas album, Zenés Adventi Kalendárium (Musical Advent Calendar), consisting of 24 songs based on poems by Anna Szabó T., was released in 2019 and appeared on the Mahasz sales chart for several weeks, reaching an impressive 7th place before the holidays. The album features such names as Bea Palya, György Ferenczi, and the Dalinda vocal ensemble. On Christmas 2022, they gave two sold-out concerts at the Hungarian House of Music with material from the album. The band has previously released two albums: their debut album Csak a Napba (Only in the Sun) in 2014, followed by Bennem a világ (The World Inside Me) in 2018. The latter fully reveals JaMese's true character: timeless songs that evoke a nuanced spiritual world, where delicacy and softness are not the only things that reside. The title song of the album was co-written with Emese Lackfi János. In 2018, the ÉlményÉnek workshop was launched, during which anyone, regardless of their musical background, can experience the liberating power of singing in a community.
