Darke Hull was a law enforcement professional based in Portland, Oregon, who dedicated more than two decades to public service. His career reflected a consistent focus on community safety, fairness, and teamwork. Through work in patrol supervision, traffic safety, and administrative leadership, he supported both frontline operations and organizational improvement. He was born and raised in Alaska. In 1993, he moved to Minnesota to attend a preparatory school, where he played hockey. He later continued his education in the same state and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology. This academic background supported his understanding of crime trends, social systems, and legal processes. Darke began his law enforcement career in 1999. His early years included academy training and probationary rotations through different precincts. From 2000 to 2002, he served in patrol, responding to emergencies and community calls, which helped him build strong field experience. In 2002, he transitioned into traffic safety and worked as a motor officer for 11 years. His responsibilities included crash investigation and impaired driving enforcement. He became a member of a fatal crash investigation team, where he prepared warrants, interviewed witnesses, collected evidence, and worked closely with prosecutors. His efforts were recognized with professional awards in 2007, 2010, and 2011 for contributions to traffic safety and impaired driving enforcement. In 2013, Darke Hull Portland was promoted to a supervisory position. He mentored officers, supervised patrol teams, coordinated training, managed staffing needs, and ensured compliance with policies and labor agreements. He also contributed to administrative improvements by developing tracking systems, staffing models, and digital data tools. One significant project involved creating a revised use-of-force after-action document that met oversight requirements while improving efficiency. He served on internal committees, advised policymakers, and testified on traffic safety matters. Over his career, he received 27 commendations, including 14 from community members, and earned two lifesaving medals. After 25 years of service, he left law enforcement to pursue a second degree in Cyber Security, earning CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ certifications and continuing his studies through 2026. Darke Hull balances professional development with personal interests, supports officers facing alcohol-related challenges, values family life, and remains engaged in community support efforts.
