GO! BORDERLESS
The EGTC GO (European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation) was founded in 2011 by the municipalities of Gorizia, Nova Gorica and Šempeter-Vrtojba. It is a public body with jurisdiction over the territory of all three municipalities, with the aim of designing a single cross-border city. In addition to wining the title of European Capital of Culture 2025, the European ITI (Integrated Territorial Investment) projects Salute-Zdravstvo and Isonzo-Soča, along with numerous other activities, have made a significant impact.
The work of the EGTC GO is made possible by the continuous dialogue and support of institutions at all levels: European Union, ministries, regional and local authorities. The constant exchange of experiences with realities (profit and non-profit) that work and animate the three cities where the EGTC GO mainly operates is also fundamental.
The EGTC GO has a cross-border mission: to support the three founding municipalities in defining and implementing a joint development strategy for the cross-border territory.
In 2025 Nova Gorica and Gorizia are – together - European Capital of Culture. For the first time this title is given to a cross-border city. The EGTC GO worked on the candidature with the two municipalities and is in charge of the organisation together with the staff of GO! 2025.
