Ken Perlstein is a New York-based actor, writer, and comedian whose career spans theater, television, film, and stand-up comedy. His work reflects consistency and dedication, with a focus on character-driven stories that strike a balance between comedy and drama.
He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he studied acting and directing at the University of Michigan. In 1994, he moved to New York to pursue his career more seriously, beginning as an NBC page. That early role provided valuable behind-the-scenes knowledge of television production and taught him the discipline needed to grow as a professional in the industry.
Ken later completed his MFA in Acting through The Actors Studio MFA Program at The New School. There, he trained with members of The Actors Studio and learned from seasoned professionals, strengthening his craft and gaining deeper experience in performance and storytelling.
His theater work includes roles in productions such as Laughter on the 23rd Floor and Lost in Yonkers. On television, he has had recurring appearances on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and guest roles in acclaimed series including Succession, The Americans, City on a Hill, Person of Interest, and FBI.
Beyond acting, he has also created and produced original projects. He wrote, directed, and starred in the independent film "January," which was screened at the Millennial Film Festival and the Miami Independent Film Festival. He also wrote and executive-produced the pilot "How Am I Doing?", which was shown at festivals across the United States and is now available online. Both projects earned recognition for his directing and acting. At present, Perlstein is developing a new original series and has been preparing its pitch deck.
His career in stand-up comedy has spanned over two decades, with performances at major New York City venues including Caroline’s, Comic Strip Live, Stand Up New York, and the British Comedy Festival. He has also performed throughout the tri-state area and Los Angeles, using a mix of personal storytelling and character work to connect with audiences.
Outside of entertainment, he is a certified peer recovery specialist with a Bronx-based mobile crisis unit. In this role, Ken provides support and resources to individuals in crisis, working alongside licensed social workers to ensure they receive the necessary care and assistance. This position highlights his dedication to advocacy and service beyond the stage and screen.
He is also known for his talent as an impressionist, as well as his athletic background in football, wrestling, and swimming, with his current fitness focus on swimming and cross-training.
Living in New York City with his family, Ken Perlstein continues to pursue acting, writing, comedy, and advocacy, remaining active in both creative and community work while staying committed to meaningful storytelling.
