Ask Nicole Metz what she has spent her career doing, and she will describe it without the usual corporate language. She develops people. Across more than three decades in human resources, talent strategy, and organizational development, her work has focused on helping individuals grow into roles, strengthen their abilities, and contribute at a higher level.
That focus began at Xerox Corporation, where Nicole Metz started in federal account sales before transitioning into the company’s training organization. Sales gave her insight into business expectations and performance demands. Training showed her the impact of guidance, preparation, and meaningful feedback. She trained hundreds of sales professionals in sales techniques, product expertise, and professional services, completed the company’s full sales training certification program, and later advanced to training the trainers responsible for developing others.
Her career continued around the same principle: building stronger organizations by investing in people. At Science Applications International Corporation, she served as Assistant Vice President of Human Resources and later as Director of Talent Development and Management. She led initiatives focused on developing program managers and technology professionals, delivering leadership and program management training across the organization. Her contributions earned recognition through the company’s People First Award, an honor selected from a workforce of approximately fifteen thousand employees.
At TASC Corporation, she became Senior Director of Talent Management for the Intelligence Group, partnering with executives and business leaders on succession planning, organizational development, executive coaching, leadership transitions, and workforce analytics. She also managed complex workforce challenges, including redeployment strategies and reduction planning. Her approach remained people-centered, creating a redeployment guide that helped employees navigate career transitions and identify new opportunities within the organization.
Nicole Metz earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Business Administration from Marymount University, graduating with honors. She has been involved with the Society for Human Resource Management and the Association for Talent Development. Through her consulting practice, she has supported Fortune 500 organizations and government contractors with talent and leadership solutions.
Her guidance for professionals entering human resources is straightforward: understand the business before offering solutions. Provide feedback with clarity, timing, and respect. And remember that a development plan only creates value when leaders actively support and follow through on it.
