The pioneers of psychedelic rock, San Francisco's Jefferson Airplane epitomized the city's Summer Of Love sound. Formed in 1965, the band were the first from the Bay Area to reach international success playing the infamous Monterey Pop Festival, Woodstock, Altamont and first ever Isle of Wight Festival. Consisting of Grace Slick (vocals), Marty Balin (vocals), Paul Kantner (guitar, vocals), Jorma Kaukonen (lead guitar, vocals), Jack Casady (bass), and Spencer Dryden (drums), the band's infamous sound is unlike any other. Taking the rock world by storm through the 60s and 70s, this larger than life band continues to make waves on the present music scene. In 1996 the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and in 2016 were presented with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
