Workers Gather at Ford Plant in Michigan as Union Begins Big 3 Auto Strike

Hundreds of workers and their supporters gathered at the Ford Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne as a strike by the United Auto Workers union (UAW) against the Big Three US automakers began on September 15. The UAW said its “Stand Up Strike” would affect plants operated by General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis, the owner of Chrysler. Calling it “a new approach to striking,” the union said that, “instead of striking all plants all at once, select locals will be called on to ‘Stand Up’ and walk out on strike.” The plants involved on September 15 were a GM site in Wentzville, Missouri; a Stellantis complex in Toledo, Ohio; and the Ford assembly plant in Wayne, Michigan. The UAW had been seeking a reduced working week and a pay rise of around 40 percent over four years. Tire Experts Rescue Kitten Hidden Behind Car Wheel

A kitten had a lucky escape after it chose the undercarriage of a car as a hiding spot, and wound up traveling 45 miles trapped inside it. Petersburg Animal Care and Control shared photos of the kitten being removed from the car, with the help of Leete Tire &amp; Auto Center Inc. It didn’t appear too eager to meet its rescuers, and eventually had to be picked up and hauled out from underneath the vehicle.
