Box Eating GIF by Tin Robot Games

Growing up, I played a lot of board games with my older siblings and my dad. We were ruthless, would fight often, but would always come back for more. That competitive nature continued on into my business career over the past 20 years.

Tin Robot Games has been 24 years in the making. It started my first year of university when I had some ideas for some board games to play with my roommates and my younger brother when I went home on weekends.

One of those games was a close combat tank strategy game. The concept was simple, you could either move or shoot on your turn. The object was to either take out the other player’s bases or their tanks. If they lost either, they were immediately out of the game. You see, one of my frustrations with games when growing up was how many of them would drag on for hours with the remaining 2 players while the rest of us had to wait. I set a personal goal that with any game I made, it would wrap up quickly when the writing was on the wall.

I didn’t have the resources in the 90’s that we do today, so I used what I had available to me. Namely; a cookie sheet, fridge magnets, and my 386 computer to create some basic designs.
