Since their debut at the Slovenian Theatre in Trieste in January 2016, the orchestra has led a very intense music activity, which has led them to perform on numerous stages, starting with the most prominent theatres in Trieste – Rossetti, Bobbio and Miela; at festivals in Italy and Slovenia, such as Far East Film Festival, Trentino in Jazz Festival, Lakeness Festival, Muggia Jazz Festival, Borghi Swing Festival, Art Tal Ort Festival, Barcolana 50, and others; up to their last tour in France and Spain, which has registered sold-out and lighted up the dancefloors in the main cities of the Iberian peninsula (Madrid, Valencia, Santander, Cuéllar, La Cabrera-ES, Les Fumades-FR). Furthermore, The 1000 Streets’ Orchestra has collaborated with various singers, such as Maurizio Vandelli (Equipe 84), Joe Bastianich, Daniela Pobega, Elina Oganjan, Francesca Bergamasco, Fabio Red Rosso (Canto Libero); they have then established a permanent collaboration with singer-actor Leonardo Zannier, whom they produced the music show “Goodbye Trieste” with, set in the “American” Trieste of the early Fifties, which debuted in January 2017 and, following the sold out of the first show, was re-staged a few months later at Orazio Bobbio theatre in Trieste, at San Giusto’s Castle in Trieste – with an audience of 1300 people – and the following year at Palazzo Regionale dei Congressi in Grado. Another result of the numerous collaborations is the show that The 1000 Streets’ Orchestra stages with the marvelous vocal trio “Les Babettes”. The encounter between these two music ensembles that were travelling in the same syncopated direction led to an abundant series of unforgettable concerts, thanks to the overwhelming public acclaim: an event to recall is “Swing-A-Live”, a performance co-organized with “Swing Freaks” dance school, which has shaken up the whole Café Rossetti in Trieste on the irresistable notes of Swing. In the Summer of 2017, thanks to the collaboration with Associazione Culturale Jam Art and Trieste’s local administration, the “FVG Big Band Festival” came to life – the first festival entirely dedicated to this kind of ensemble. In its first editions it hosted “FaRe Jazz” Big Band from Trento, Italy, Pioneer Jazz Band from Michigan, USA, and North East Ska*Jazz Orchestra from Pordenone, Italy. Since December 2018, The 1000 Streets’ Orchestra has had the chance to work with new artists, first of all in the cabaret show created by Alessio Colautti, titled “Un pomeriggio a Stelle e Strisce” (An Afternoon with Stars and Stripes), up to the concert which gave the orchestra the honor of performing with Andrea Tofanelli, internationally-renowned trumpeter, playing as solo trumpet. Since Summer 2019, the orchestra proudly carries on two new collaborations. The first with Italian bluesman Mike Sponza, a completely original, blues-soaked repertoire, whose arrangements for big band and strings have been brought back to life after their first writing by Primoz Grašič – historic member of “Big Band RTV Slovenia”. The second with Bareté Quartet, an Italian jazz quartet that has won international prizes such as PIF di Castelfidardo and that has collaborated with prominent musicians such as Thomas Gansch (Mnozil Brass). The fusion of the orchestra with Bareté Quartet is focused on an original jazz repertoire based on the quartet’s first album, “Mirage”.
