Brittany and Marco never expected to find the name of their new real estate brokerage on an old, forgotten family crest in a house in Nashville, Tennessee. But inspiration often comes from unlikely places.
Brittany Picolo-Ramos and her husband, Marco, started working together in real estate in early 2015. Shortly thereafter, they started their own real estate team, then hired a few agents and an administrator. After several months, their business steadily increased, and the “Picolo-Ramos Team” quickly went from a few sales here and there to over $14,000,000 in sales in their first year. Years two and three saw incredible growth as they expanded their territory and hired more agents and staff.
After consistently being the top 1 or 2 team in their office of over 500 agents, they felt like it was time to consider starting their own real estate brokerage. As fate would have it, Marco was eligible to take the brokerage exam and passed on the first try. It was then that the hard work of starting a brokerage really began, and they knew they needed a name.
While Brittany and Marco were staying with their sister in Nashville during Hurricane Barry, Brittany was exploring the recently decorated home and happened upon an old family crest. The crest read “Godwyn and Stone” and featured leopards and a gryphon. Brittany fell in love with the crest, and, after talking to her sister, found out it belonged to Brittany’s great-great-grandfather, Charles Godwyn Stevens.
Amazingly, Brittany’s family line can be traced back to 1066 - to the time of the Battle of Hastings and William the Conqueror! She and Marco both loved the idea of having a real estate brokerage with a name bigger than themselves that also had a national - and even international – appeal. And thus, Godwyn & Stone Real Estate was born.
Fast forward to today, and Godwyn & Stone Real Estate now employs a team of agents and staff who work throughout the New Orleans Metro area - including the North Shore, Slidell, the Westbank, and beyond. The brokerage currently has 11 agents (and counting) and 3 full-time administrators. With over 522 transactions and over $130,000,000 in sales since 2015 (and counting), they are poised to become one of the preeminent brokerages in New Orleans.
In addition to the company’s success, Brittany also stars in her own HGTV show called “Selling the Big Easy,” which is on track to air in 2020. The show features Brittany and her team making house hunting fun as they take an enthusiastic approach to buying and selling elegant and historic properties in New Orleans. Between Brittany and the team’s colorful personalities and the beautiful, iconic character of New Orleans, the show is anticipated to be a hit.
