Corcova Fest

@corcovafest
The name "CORCOVA" brings to mind two things: - The quality wine produced here - The sporting events hosted by the winery over the past eight years In 2024, Corcova will reopen its doors, even wider this time, as everything will transform into a festival of wine, running, cycling, local traditions, and last but not least, fun. We believe that wine is more than just something you drink and savor. It carries an undeniable sense of place, and the French even have a word for it: terroir. The Corcova Viticultural Company is a beautiful story, a conversation between friends that became a successful reality. Owned by Michel Roy and Șerban Dâmboviceanu, the business was established in 2005. At that time, out of the 470 hectares of vineyards previously held by IAS Corcova, only 18 hectares remained, and the cellars, built by Prince Anton Bibescu at the beginning of the 20th century, were in ruins. Today, the Corcova Roy & Dâmboviceanu vineyard covers 70 hectares, where traditional local grape varieties have been replanted, those that existed during the Bibescu estate era and are included in the DOC Mehedinți-Corcova authorized varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Fetească Neagră, Muscat Ottonel, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, as well as two new varieties, Syrah and Viognier. Additionally, between 2008 and 2009, the cellars were completely renovated and modernized, equipped with modern machinery and equipment that facilitate processing. Corcova wine bears the original imprint of the place and speaks of history, distinction, and passion. The personality of the terroir is given by the fortunate combination of climatic elements with geological specifics, the right choice of grape varieties, and especially, the attention to the winemaking process. At Corcova, on the Bibescu family estate, wine has been the decanter around which ideas were exchanged, intense experiences were lived, memorable writings were born, and an impressive number of personalities gathered. It is a heritage that we care for. This heritage will be celebrated even more vibrantly in 2024, as Corcova Fest will not only showcase our wines but also bring together a community passionate about running, cycling, and local traditions. Join us for a unique blend of culture, sport, and entertainment.
