The Liesborn Abtei Museum, which is run by the district of Warendorf, is located on the premises of the former Benedictine Liesborn Abbey, which was secularised in 1803. In 1966, the museum began as a local history museum in a few rooms of the building and quickly developed into a regionally significant cultural institution due to the enormous growth of the collection. The museum's collection reflects the regional art and cultural history of the region. The focus is on the holdings of the former abbey with the 1000-year-old Liesborn Gospels and works by the Master of Liesborn, Dutch painting from the 17th century and regional artists from the 19th century. The extensive collection of crucifixes is unique.
