The history of the “Remembrance and Future” Centre is one of passion, engagement and determination. It starts in 2007 when the Centre came into existence as a state cultural institution as a result of a decision by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Kazimierz Michał Ujazdowski. From the beginning of 2009 the Centre functioned as a local government organisation under the auspices of the city of Wrocław. On 21 March 2016 an agreement concerning the joint running of the Wrocław “Remembrance and Future” Centre was signed for the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, Prof. Piotr Gliński, and the President of Wrocław, Rafał Dutkiewicz. To preserve important moments from the historical experiences of past times, we listen to and record the stories of people who came to western Poland over 60 years ago and who ushered in the new identity of this region. These extraordinary and unusually valuable narratives form the basis for the attractive and historically truthful relation of our most recent history. Such are the beginnings of the “Remembrance and Future” Centre – a place where information about the post-war history of Wrocław and Lower Silesia is documented and disseminated.
