The baptismal name of the pair was inspired by the beautiful effect of the meeting of the waters of the Negro and Solimões rivers, which cause the phenomenon of pororoca. Thus, José Divino and Luiz Felizardo became Rionegro & Solimões. The story of the duo begins in the city of Claraval, interior of Minas Gerais.
