Akshay Garud, a Bioengineering student with a minor in Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), is set to graduate in 2025. He has honed his expertise in numerous programming languages, including Java, Python, and C++, and is proficient in various technical software such as Atom, R Programming, MATLAB Octave, and Node.js. He also excels using Microsoft Excel, Onshape, Autocad, Autodesk Inventor, and Imagej. His technical understanding extends to practical skills in 3D Printing, API Testing, and Data Visualization, as well as theoretical foundations in Linear Algebra, Machine Learning, and Statistics. His hands-on internship experiences complement Akshay's rich educational background. He has conducted significant research at UIUC's Gritton Lab, focusing on the neural responses of mice within AI-generated mazes, which blends his bioengineering and computer science skills. Additionally, he has interned at TrussHealth, an innovative healthcare company leveraging AI to enhance patient care, where he developed web applications and conducted API tests. His experience at Base Pair Inc. involved him in crucial bioinformatics projects, where he worked on RNA-seq data processing pipelines and genomic data analysis.
