Bo Nicholson’s life is a testament to the enduring influence of his hometown, Raleigh, North Carolina, where he was raised alongside his two brothers, William and Henry. His deep connection to the city has shaped his values and inspired his personal and professional growth dedication. After high school, Bo moved to Athens, Georgia, to attend the University of Georgia. He graduated in 2010 from the Terry College of Business, but his time at UGA wasn’t just about academics. His passion for music led him to join Mama’s Love, a rock band that toured the Southeastern U.S. and recorded original music at Southern Ground in Atlanta. Working with the legendary producer John Keane helped him learn valuable lessons about teamwork, dedication, and the importance of working towards a common goal—skills he now applies in his financial career. Although Bo eventually transitioned away from a full-time music career, his love for the art form remains strong. He continues to perform with Steamroom Etiquette, a local cover band in Raleigh and occasionally reunites with his former bandmates for special performances. Music remains an important creative outlet, allowing him to stay connected to his artistic roots. In 2012, Bo began his professional career as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch. He completed the firm’s Practice Management Development program and built his client base using traditional grassroots methods like cold calling, door-to-door outreach, and hosting educational seminars. These early experiences shaped his relationship-driven approach to financial advising, focusing on proactive service and long-term connections with clients. In 2016, Bo transitioned to Capital Investment Companies, where he joined Financial Resource Management (FRM) alongside Greg Hicks and Wanda Cooper. He was drawn to FRM’s client-first philosophy and the firm’s emphasis on long-term relationships. Since then, he has played a key role in helping FRM expand its reach, now serving high-net-worth families and business owners across North Carolina. The firm now operates in Raleigh, Greensboro, and Atlantic Beach. Bo holds the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor™ (CRPC®) designation, which he earned in 2016 and 2013, respectively. He is also a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course and a member of the President’s Council at Capital Investment Companies, an honor given to those who demonstrate exceptional client service. In addition to his financial advising work, Bo co-hosts a personal finance radio show that airs weekly across the Triangle and Crystal Coast. The show offers practical financial advice on various topics, helping listeners make informed financial decisions and making financial education more accessible to the public. Bo’s approach to financial planning is based on trust, clarity, and a long-term perspective. He helps clients simplify complex financial decisions, minimize tax burdens, and plan for the future. Whether preparing for retirement, managing family wealth, or transitioning a business, he tailors his approach to meet each client’s unique needs. On a personal note, Bo married Seely Stephenson in 2018, and they have two children, Grove (born in 2021) and Bill (born in 2023), along with a yellow lab named Parker. When he’s not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and exploring the North Carolina coast. Music is essential; he enjoys performing or attending live shows when possible. Bo is focused on continued growth in his personal life and career. His commitment to helping clients achieve their financial goals with integrity and care remains the foundation of his work.
