Dr. Edward McInnis, Lt. (N), MD, CCFP, is an experienced physician with a family medicine and emergency care background. Throughout his career, which spans 16 years in family medicine and 10 years in emergency and trauma medicine, he has built a reputation for providing high-quality patient care. In addition to his medical practice, he is a dedicated father of four children, a volunteer, an athlete, and a lieutenant in the Canadian Armed Forces, where he serves as a Navy reservist. Dr. McInnis was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and was the oldest of four siblings. A passion for sports marked his childhood, which he diligently pursued. He played hockey, baseball, tennis, and golf, excelling in all of them. He competed at the Junior A hockey level and was even evaluated by the Boston Red Sox for a potential pitching role. His competitive spirit and love for athletics continued into adulthood, and he added weightlifting to his repertoire as he matured, maintaining a strong focus on fitness throughout his life. From a young age, Dr. McInnis developed a strong work ethic. He started delivering newspapers at 10, learning responsibility and time management. At 13, he took on his first full-time job at McDonald’s, where he gained invaluable experience in customer service, teamwork, and work ethic. These early lessons would shape his approach to his professional and personal life, instilling a sense of dedication that continues to influence his career as a physician. Dr. McInnis’s academic journey is both diverse and impressive. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 1992. After graduating, he traveled across the United States, gaining a broader perspective on life before returning to academics. In 1997, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Biochemistry and Genetics from Dalhousie University. His medical education continued at Dalhousie University’s medical school, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 2004. Following his graduation, Dr. McInnis completed his internship at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, where he focused on emergency and family medicine and gained hands-on experience in both fields. In addition to his academic and professional accomplishments, Dr. McInnis has been committed to serving his community. His work as a Navy reservist in the Canadian Armed Forces reflects his dedication to serving others and supporting his country. His medical skills and leadership abilities have made him a valuable asset to the Armed Forces, where he has earned the rank of lieutenant.
