He began his service in 1995 by enlisting in the U.S. Army as an infantryman, later receiving his commission through the Virginia Military Institute. With a background that includes both enlisted and officer experience, he developed a strong understanding of operational and leadership dynamics. His training included airborne and Ranger qualifications, and he completed six combat deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Persian Gulf. During his time with the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions, he maintained over a decade of jump status, completing 82 jumps and earning Master Rated Airborne Wings. He led troops during Operation Iraqi Freedom and multiple deployments to Afghanistan, where he directed operations, coordinated complex movements, and managed the capture of enemy combatants. In the 82nd Airborne Division, he served as a Battalion Operations Officer and Executive Officer, overseeing units of 830 and 770 personnel. His work in logistics, aviation support, intelligence, and training contributed directly to operational effectiveness and earned him multiple Bronze Stars for his performance in combat zones. Later, he served in strategic roles at the Pentagon, including the Office of the Secretary of Defense Staff, the Joint Staff, and the Army Staff. As Deputy Director and Chief of the Assessments Branch, he led cross-service planning and capability assessments. As Director of Joint Integration, he supported the development of close combat capabilities and helped secure resources for critical initiatives. Following retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel, he moved into the civilian sector, focusing on defense-related business development and nonprofit service. His continued leadership reflects the same values that shaped his military service.
