Frik De Meyere has spent his career seeking out opportunities in places where growth is just beginning. That mindset brought him to Belize, where he now leads Prime Belize Real Estate and helps guide buyers and investors through the country’s evolving property market. His professional path reflects over twenty years of global business experience and a hands-on approach to real estate development. Born in a small farming village near the Dutch border in Belgium, Frik was drawn early to technical and entrepreneurial pursuits. Through studies in Ghent and Antwerp, he earned degrees in information technology and emergency medical services. Eager to expand his business knowledge, he pursued an MBA at Flanders Business School and added a second MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago. Frik’s career began in Europe, where he gained experience across industries, including real estate development, information systems, cosmetics, food production, and construction. Over the course of over a decade, he led and invested in over twenty startup ventures. Many of these companies later merged with or were acquired by larger firms. He also managed the construction and sale of over one hundred residential units, building a solid foundation in real estate. In 2004, Frik visited Belize for the first time on a business scouting trip with his partner, Ilse Van Keer. He saw opportunities in the country’s emerging property market and began acquiring land. In 2011, he and his family moved permanently to Belize, and he joined BMA Real Estate in Placencia. At that point, BMA was a small firm handling fewer than fifteen transactions annually. Frik contributed to its growth over the next decade. The team expanded to over twenty professionals, and annual transactions rose to over one hundred. BMA also gained recognition for marketing high-value properties, including private islands and luxury beachfront homes, helping to attract buyers from North America and Europe. In 2023, Frik decided to launch a new venture. Together with trusted colleagues and experienced local agents, he founded Prime Belize Real Estate. The firm officially opened in January 2024 with a modern business structure focused on speed, flexibility, and increased market visibility. He leads the company’s sales efforts and overall business strategy, managing a portfolio that includes land parcels, beachfront estates, and private islands. Frik’s entrepreneurial interests extend beyond property sales. He founded 501properties.com, a real estate classifieds platform, and created Placencia Storage, Belize's largest storage rental facility. He and Ilse also opened Chillpoint, a coffee shop, ice cream bar, and wine lounge, which has become a popular gathering place for locals and visitors. Now a naturalized Belizean citizen and Justice of the Peace, Frik remains committed to giving back. He supports education, youth sports, housing projects, and public safety efforts. Alongside Ilse, he has fostered children and adopted a daughter from Belize, deepening their family’s lasting connection to their home country.
