Frontier Galvanizing, officially known as Frontier Hot-Dip Galvanizing, Inc., has provided trusted corrosion protection for over 75 years. Located in Buffalo, the company delivers hot-dip galvanizing services that reinforce essential infrastructure across industries. Bridges, highways, stadiums, and utilities are just a few examples of the structures strengthened by Frontier’s expertise, making the company synonymous with durability, reliability, and technical precision. Founded in 1948 on Austin Street, Frontier built its reputation serving local manufacturers and contractors with dependable artistry and practical service. As demand for galvanizing grew during America’s infrastructure expansion, the company faced the need for larger facilities. This opportunity was seized in 1970, when Ray V. Pierce and shareholders acquired the business, laying the groundwork for its transformation into a regional powerhouse in galvanizing. Soon after, the company relocated to Elmwood Avenue, into the former General Drop Forge Corp. facility. This move expanded production capacity and improved operational flow. With Ray later joined by his brother Lewis G. Pierce, Frontier launched a program of land acquisitions that provided room for larger assemblies and higher-volume projects. This expansion allowed the company to support complex construction timelines and win the trust of major clients. Over the years, Frontier has continued to strengthen its reputation by committing to craftsmanship and environmental stewardship. Innovations like continuous flux treatment, hydrochloric acid regeneration, and hex-free passivation have enhanced efficiency while reducing environmental impact. Active participation in international galvanizer associations has also kept the company at the forefront of evolving industry research and environmental compliance. The scope of Frontier’s work can be seen in projects such as the Queensboro Bridge, Daytona Motor Speedway, Boston’s Green Line Extension, the Peace Bridge, and the Buffalo Bills’ Highmark Stadium. Beyond U.S. borders, the company has supplied millions of pounds of galvanized steel to markets in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Jamaica, thereby establishing its reputation in both domestic and global markets. Frontier is now guided by Lewis G. Pierce and his son, Robert V. Pierce, who balance proven methods with innovative processes. The company continues to focus on quality, workplace safety, environmental responsibility, and operational Excellence. With a legacy spanning decades, Frontier Galvanizing remains committed to delivering steel protection that endures, standing as strong as the structures it supports.
