Gary Perron was born in the vast prairie heartland of Saskatchewan, where his story began surrounded by open skies and strong community values. During his early years, his family moved to Winnipeg, where lessons of hard work, kindness, and responsibility continued to shape his character. More than forty years ago, he made Calgary his home, building a life centered on family, friendship, and a profound appreciation for Alberta’s natural beauty. Over the years, he has developed strong ties within the community, finding fulfillment in the city’s mix of urban opportunities and outdoor adventures. Calgary has provided him with the perfect setting to raise a family, build lasting relationships, and stay true to the principles that guided him since childhood. Family has always been the foundation of his life. He finds great happiness in spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially during the summer months at the family lake house. This retreat has become a beloved place where generations come together to share laughter, stories, and traditions. For him, these gatherings are more than vacations—they are opportunities to connect, teach, and create lifelong memories. Whether skipping stones across calm water, sharing quiet talks on the dock, or organizing games that bring everyone together, these moments hold deep meaning. The lake house offers a slower pace of life where technology fades into the background, and family connection takes center stage. Watching his grandchildren explore the outdoors—swimming, fishing, or discovering new adventures—reminds him of the simple joys that make life meaningful. His appreciation for the outdoors extends beyond the lake. He has always been an enthusiastic golfer, valuing both the challenge and tranquility the game provides. Golf allows him time for focus, friendship, and reflection, while Calgary’s many scenic courses offer beautiful backdrops that enhance the experience. Cycling has also long been one of his passions, combining fitness with exploration. Whether riding along city pathways or through Alberta’s rolling hills, he enjoys the sense of freedom and clarity that cycling brings. The rhythm of the ride and the beauty of nature continue to inspire him, even as he enjoys a slower pace in recent years. Travel has been a crucial part of his personal growth, offering new perspectives and enriching experiences. He prefers to travel thoughtfully, taking time to learn about each place and its people rather than rushing through destinations. Through his travels, he has gained a greater understanding of different cultures and a renewed appreciation for the beauty and warmth of his Alberta home. In 2009, he founded the Norrep Foundation, a private charitable organization created to give back to the Calgary community that has given him so much. Over the past fifteen years, the foundation has donated more than $5 million to registered charities throughout the city. His approach to philanthropy is quiet and thoughtful, focused on supporting education, community development, and helping those who need it most. Rather than seeking attention, he believes in the serene strength of doing good for its own sake, reflecting his lifelong values of service and integrity. Throughout his decades in Calgary, he has remained true to his prairie roots while embracing new experiences and opportunities. Whether spending time with family, enjoying a round of golf, cycling Alberta’s scenic paths, or supporting charitable efforts, he continues to live with gratitude and purpose. Gary Perron’s life stands as a testament to dedication, compassion, and the conviction that true fulfillment stems from family, community, and the simple joy of giving back.
