Islam Elfiky has built a career that connects high-level athletics, healthcare technology, and hospitality. Based in New York, he is an entrepreneur and business developer who serves as Co-Founder and Head of Business Development at MedsNow. His path began on the squash courts of Cairo and later grew into business work focused on practical service, digital tools, and community care. He was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, a city known for producing strong squash talent. As a junior player, he joined the Egyptian National Team while it held the world’s number one ranking. He later reached 165th in the world men’s ranking. After attending the American University in Cairo, he moved to the United States to continue his education and athletic career at The George Washington University. At George Washington, he became the No. 1 player on the men’s squash team and held that position for two seasons. In 2011-12, he earned 21 individual wins against three losses, with 19 victories coming in straight sets. He ended the season on a 15-match winning streak, swept all three matches at the College Squash Association National Championships, and finished ranked 31st in the country. His success that season brought several honors. He received the team’s Most Valuable Player award at the Senior Honors Luncheon and was named Male Athlete of the Year at the first Georgey Awards. In January 2012, he was also named Colonial of the Week after four straight-set weekend wins that helped George Washington defeat Tufts, Boston College, and nationally ranked Bowdoin. The previous season also showed his consistency. In 2010-11, Islam Elfiky played every match at No. 1 and finished with an 18-2 record, with every win coming in straight sets. He ended that season ranked 34th in the College Squash Association. With two straight top-35 national rankings, he became one of the notable players in the program’s history. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 2014. After his college playing career, he moved into business through squash. From 2014 to 2016, he co-founded Squash on Fire, a Washington, D.C., project created to provide a high-end squash facility with public access instead of private membership. The facility opened in 2017 and gave him direct experience turning an idea into an operating venue. Since 2020, his main work has been MedsNow, which he co-founded with Nikhil Misra. The company helps independent pharmacies sell online, meet compliance and regulatory needs, onboard patients, send invoices, collect payments, and manage receivables with better data. MedsNow was selected for XRC Labs’ Cohort 14, presented at XRC Ventures’ 2023 Demo Day, and received support from the XRC Ventures Accelerator Program and Reshape Ventures. He has also expanded into hospitality through Yalla Hospitality, where he is developing a venture connected to restaurants and guest experience. Islam Elfiky remains closely tied to Egypt through his family’s hospital business, which is known for social work and community care. His volunteer and philanthropic work are also centered there, while his broader career continues across technology, healthcare, hospitality, and service.
