James Burleson has devoted over thirty years to building a career that bridges finance, entrepreneurship, and community service. His professional life has been defined by founding businesses, managing investments, and supporting ventures that reflect both innovation and long-term planning. Equally important, he has remained dedicated to philanthropy and civic involvement, demonstrating that service and professional success can grow side by side. His path in finance began early. At just 24, James became one of the youngest seat holders and market makers on the Pacific Stock Exchange. His leadership abilities were quickly noticed, leading to his election as the youngest Chair of the Nominating Committee for the Board of Governors. These achievements established his reputation in a highly competitive industry. He later took on senior roles with respected firms including Letco LMM, Joseph D. Heard Jr. Inc., Premier Trading Group, and Charles Schwab. While serving as Partner and Lead Market Maker at Letco, he contributed to the company’s success until it was sold to Toronto Dominion Bank in 2002. His strong expertise in derivatives and trading strategies became central to his professional identity and helped shape his later entrepreneurial efforts. In 2004, he launched Burleson + Company, an independent advisory firm that expanded to manage nearly $800 million in assets under management. The firm distinguished itself by combining traditional investment approaches with broader financial planning, aligning investment strategies with client goals. He later broadened his impact through Northern Peak Consulting, where he provided advice on strategy, operations, and sustainable growth for both individuals and businesses. His entrepreneurial vision also extended into venture capital with BCo Venture Fund I, which invested in early-stage companies. One notable investment was Pathwater, a bottled water brand that challenged industry norms and introduced sustainable practices to the marketplace. Alongside his business endeavors, James has always prioritized community service. For nearly two decades, he has served on the Sonoma–Marin Fair Board, supporting youth, agriculture, and cultural programs. He also dedicated more than ten years to the Rotary Club of Petaluma, where he served as Treasurer of its foundation.
