Jason Hornady brings over two decades of leadership and innovation to the firearms and ammunition industry, combining his business expertise with a deep passion for shooting sports. With more than 25 years of experience in management, marketing, and business development within the sporting goods sector, he has played a vital role in advancing his family’s legacy. As Vice President of Hornady Manufacturing Co., Jason has helped guide the company to a position of industry prominence, specializing in ammunition, bullet production, reloading equipment, and security products. His leadership has driven significant growth, with the company expanding rapidly while maintaining a strong focus on quality and innovation. Beyond business success, Jason is widely respected for his commitment to conservation, shooting sports education, and community engagement. His efforts have reinforced his standing as a business leader and an advocate for the firearms industry. Coming from a family with deep ties to the firearms business, Jason’s career was influenced by his grandfather, who founded Hornady Manufacturing in 1949. Encouraged by his father to gain broader experience before joining the family company, he earned a Business Administration degree with a Marketing concentration from the University of Wyoming. He began his career at Sportco Marketing, Inc., managing a vast network of dealers and distributors. Later, he served as Director of Sales and Marketing at Redfield Riflescopes Inc., overseeing sales, marketing, and product development. Following a challenging period at Redfield that ended in foreclosure, Jason’s experience helped him grow sales substantially at Dunkin-Lewis, Inc., where he achieved a 450% sales increase with Cabela’s and doubled revenue with Academy Sports. Returning to Hornady Manufacturing in 2006, Jason played a key role in transforming the company’s operations and market reach. Under his guidance, Hornady experienced sixteen consecutive years of double-digit sales growth. Named Vice President in 2007, he spearheaded the introduction of more than 700 new products, significantly enhancing the brand’s presence and solidifying its leadership in the industry. His marketing strategies broadened the company’s customer base, serving hunters, competitive shooters, and law enforcement alike. Jason’s advocacy work includes active involvement with the Congressional Sportsman's Foundation (CSF), where he supports legislation benefiting hunters and sport shooters nationwide. He also serves on the Nebraska Game and Parks Foundation board, promoting conservation and sustainable hunting practices. His industry achievements have earned him numerous honors, including being named “Rep of the Year” by nine manufacturers, induction into the Nebraska Business Hall of Fame in 2024 alongside his father, and the Mid-States Distribution Lifetime Achievement Award. Jason is an avid hunter and shooter who enjoys competing and spending time with his community outside of work. He is dedicated to family and supports Hope Harbor, the Grand Island Community Foundation, and the Nebraska Game and Parks. Jason Hornady’s leadership reflects a balance of innovation and respect for tradition. His ongoing vision continues to shape Hornady Manufacturing’s future and the broader firearms industry, embodying the core values of American shooting sports.
