Jeff Hawks has built his career around the principles of innovation and continuous education, which have shaped his journey as an Engineering Project Manager. His work focuses on robotic development, automation, and biomechanics, demonstrating a keen interest in merging the fields of physiology and engineering mechanics. Currently, he leads significant projects related to robotic development, fabrication automation, and product design. His skills include creating robotic arms for welding and material handling, as well as designing mechatronic devices to improve fabrication processes. One of his most notable achievements is the development of a prototype hip sled designed to assist patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). This project has garnered interest from the research community. Jeff holds both a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Numerous journal publications, book chapters, and patents highlight his academic career. His commitment to continuous learning is evident not only in his personal development but also in his desire to share his expertise. He has taught the senior capstone design course in the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In addition, he initiated an interdisciplinary biomechanics course aimed at juniors, seniors, and graduate students, further showcasing his dedication to education. Jeff’s interest in biomechanics and sports sciences has driven him to explore assistive device design for rehabilitation. His research collaborations include work with the Nebraska Biomechanics Core Facility at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and the Nebraska Athletic Performance Laboratory at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In 2013, he served as a member of the host planning committee for the American Society of Biomechanics in Omaha, Nebraska, further demonstrating his commitment to advancing the field. Beyond his professional achievements, Jeff is also dedicated to charitable work. He serves on the board of MS Forward, a gym for patients with neurological conditions. He contributes both his time and expertise to the organization, helping to infuse innovative rehabilitation techniques into their programs.
