Kirk Shaw is one of North America’s most prolific award-winning producers, credited with over 250 films and television projects in a career spanning over thirty years. He has collaborated with all major studios and worked alongside A-list talent, including Woody Harrelson, Charlize Theron, Ashton Kutcher, John Travolta, Nicolas Cage, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Kim Basinger, Ray Liotta, and Cuba Gooding Jr., among others. Shaw is widely recognized for his leadership in the entertainment industry and for introducing innovative approaches to financing and packaging film and television productions. In 2017, Shaw was inducted into the British Columbia Entertainment Hall of Fame for his significant and lasting impact on Canada’s screen industry. He built Canada’s largest independent production company, combining expertise in scripted and non-scripted content with strategic skill in high-concept IP packaging, financing, and international co-productions. His experience spans the whole production cycle, from IP acquisition and development planning to managing budgets ranging from $1 million to over $200 million. He has forged partnerships across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, delivering theatrical, streaming, and broadcast distribution projects. As Co-President of Ambitious Entertainment, founded in 2017 with offices in Los Angeles and Vancouver, Shaw has overseen titles like Guns of Redemption, Viper, and Dead Man’s Hand. By 2025, the studio had become a fully integrated IP-acquisition and packaging company, targeting high-concept, profitable content for global markets and positioning to trade publicly on the NYSE. In 2009, he founded Odyssey Media Inc., a boutique studio specializing in lower-risk international co-productions. Backed by a $25 million investment fund, Odyssey produced over 20 films, including Drive Hard, Pound of Flesh, and The Town That Came A-Courting. Shaw began his career in 1990 with Insight Film Studios, initially producing audio guides for museums before moving into documentaries and series, and eventually, over 130 long-form productions. Major credits include Battle in Seattle, Helen, and the Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker.
